FORT WORTH, Texas (January 29, 2013)—A TCU student who was a grandson of oil Tycoon T. Boone Pickens, 21, was found dead Tuesday.
Pickens' spokesman Jay Rosser said the death of Thomas Boone Pickens IV is an "unspeakable family tragedy" and asked that the family be allowed to grieve in private.
Neither Rosser nor Fort Worth police said what may have caused the death of the Texas Christian University junior, who went by the name Ty.
A police spokeswoman said officers responded to a report of a dead person at an off-campus location around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Ty Boone Pickens was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the Tarrant County medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
