Groundbreaking For Stadium Held During Halftime

WACO (September 15, 2012)—A special ceremony was held Saturday during half time at the Floyd Casey Stadium.

Baylor officials held the official groundbreaking for the new Baylor stadium in front of hundreds of fans that came to see the Baylor bears take on Sam Houston State.

Saturday’s game was designated as Community Day in order to celebrate the Baylor/Waco partnership and salute the work of the United Way. United Way was also recognized at halftime.

The first 40,000 fans into Floyd Casey stadium received free groundbreaking buttons.

The new Baylor stadium is set to open in August of 2014 when Baylor takes on Southern Methodist University.
