Gunman With Hostage Who Led Texas Officers On Chase Killed

SAN MARCOS (November 30, 2013) A police tactical team shot and killed a 22-year-old gunman who went to a business north of San Antonio, took his ex-girlfriend hostage and fled, leading authorities on a chase through two counties.

At around 1 a.m. Friday officers responded to a report of a man with a gun at a business in Bulverde.

Authorities say the gunman took the 19-year-old woman hostage and the pursuit began.

The chase on Highway 46 toward Canyon Lake eventually led to San Marcos, 30 miles south of Austin.

The gunman fired at officers several times before the chase ended in southeast Hays County, where a standoff ensued.

The standoff ended when two San Marcos officers shot and killed the gunman, whose name has not been released.

The woman was not hurt.
