Helicopter Crash In Hill Country Kills Three

FREDERICKSBURG (October 12, 2012)—Guided by an emergency beacon, searchers found the wreckage of a helicopter and three bodies Friday in northwest Kendall County, about 20 miles southeast of Fredericksburg, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

DPS Trooper Jason Reyes had no immediate details on the victims, where the flight originated or the destination.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the crash involved a Robinson R44, which is a four-passenger helicopter.

Reyes says the search began Thursday evening after an airborne pilot reported an emergency locater beacon transmitting in the area.

A DPS helicopter joined the search but poor weather conditions forced officials to call off rescue efforts for the night.

Searchers found the wreckage at around 7:45 a.m. Friday.
