Helicopter Crash In Texas Leaves One Dead, One Injured

CHILDRESS (November 28, 2012)--A helicopter crashed late Tuesday afternoon about two miles northeast of Childress during work on some power lines, killing a lineman and injuring the pilot.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the helicopter was hovering at about 150 feet and the lineman was suspended about 50 feet below the aircraft hanging rollers on power poles when the aircraft lost power and crashed.

The DPS did not immediately identify the utility.

The DPS said Jonathan David Suhr, 23, of McLean died at Childress Regional Medical Center.

The pilot, Keith Hard, 42, of Butte County, Calif., was treated for minor injuries and and released.

Records show the helicopter was registered to Brim Equipment Leasing Inc. of Ashland, Ore.

A message left Wednesday with Brim wasn't immediately returned.
