Helicopter, K-9 Team Track Down Pair After Local Business Break-In

TEMPLE (January 7, 2012)—Temple police, assisted by a K-9 team and a Department of Public Safety helicopter, tracked down two men whom officers spotted leaving the rear of a business after what evidently was an attempted burglary late Friday night.

Officers were sent to Mitchell Equipment at around 10:45 p.m. Friday at 3509 North 3rd St. in Temple in response to a burglary alarm.

They spotted two men running from the rear of the business toward a wooded area and gave chase, but the men escaped.

About 15 minutes later, a K-9 team found one of the two men hiding in thick underbrush.

The pilot of the DPS helicopter spotted the second man at around 11:35 p.m. and he was arrested without incident.

Francisco Jimenez-Sibaja, 23, and Cris Gomez, 25, both of Dallas, were arrested.

Jimenez-Sibaja was charged with evading arrest or detention, police said Saturday.

Gomez was charged with burglary of a building, evading arrest or detention and fictitious identification to police.

Investigators are trying to determine why the two men were in Temple.
