Home Catches Fire For The Second Time In 2 Weeks

WACO (June 17, 2013)--Firefighters responded Sunday night to a home that caught fire for the second time in weeks.

Assistant Waco Fire Chief Patrick Kerwin said the house at 1316 North 5th Street is a total loss although it didn't burn to the ground.

Firefighters were sent at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday to the address at 5th Street and Colcord Avenue Sunday where the first units on scene reported the two-story wood frame house fully engulfed in flames.

Kerwin said fire crews used aerial ladder trucks to pour water on the flames from above.

The house already had suffered damage from a fire that was reported at the same address on June 1, Kerwin said.

Kerwin said the house was vacant.

No one was injured.

Fire marshals remained at the scene until about 12:30 a.m. Monday but have not yet issued a cause for the fire.
