DALLAS (January 17, 2011)—Dallas firefighters used ladders and ropes early Monday to rescue a homeless man who was sleeping in a dumpster when a trash collection crew emptied the bin into a garbage truck.
The man ended up buried in garbage in the back of the truck.
The crew heard his cries for help and called for help.
A firefighter said the man was seriously injured.
He said rescuers used a Stokes littler basket to remove the man from the back of the truck.
The man, whose name was not immediately available, was taken to a Dallas hospital.
Temperatures in the Dallas area were in the mid-40s early Monday morning.
