"Homemade Bombs" Thrown Near Fort Hood Entrance

KILLEEN (August 23, 2012) -- Police are searching for suspects after they say someone threw what are being called "homemade bombs" out of a moving car near an entrance to Fort Hood.

Killeen police responded at approximately 8:30 p.m. Thursday after being called about a suspicious package under the overpass at Highway 190 and Fort Hood Street.

The package was removed from the scene and determined not to be dangerous.

Shortly after, at about 10 p.m, three plastic bottles were thrown from a moving car at the scene.

Police say they believe the bottles were filled with aluminum and chlorine and that they were shaken up before thrown from the car.

They say each bottle made a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot.

It is unclear at the moment if the bottles were connected to the package found under the overpass.

Killeen police are still investigating and are actively searching for suspects.
