House Explodes Scattering Debris Throughout Texas Neighborhood

LEWISVILLE (January 11, 2013)--At least three men, including two firefighters, were hurt Friday in an explosion that destroyed a home and scattered debris throughout a suburban neighborhood in North Texas.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the blast Friday afternoon in Lewisville, about 20 miles northwest of Dallas.

Lewisville Assistant Fire Chief Brian Freed said officials are waiting for natural gas lines to be shut down before investigating if others might have been inside.

Freed says firefighters were in the area earlier Friday after a gas leak was reported.

Atmos Energy spokeswoman Jennifer Ryan says workers are trying to shut down the gas flow.

CeCe Clemens, a spokeswoman at Medical Center of Lewisville, said the two firefighters were in fair condition while the third man was in critical condition.

Their names weren’t released.
