KILLEEN (August 23, 2012)-Killeen police were investigating Thursday after a 1-year-old was flown to Scott & White Hospital in Temple early Thursday morning with serious head injuries.

Killeen police spokeswoman Carroll Smith said at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday officers were sent to an address in the 3300 block of Steve Avenue where a woman reported her 1-year-old son was having trouble breathing.

When officers and EMS personnel arrived they found the boy had suffered what Smith called serious head injuries.

Initially paramedics planned to take the child to Seton Medical Center, but instead opted to call for a medical helicopter to fly him to the McLane Children's Hospital at Scott & White.

Smith said the woman and her boyfriend were at the residence when they arrived, but no one had been arrested as of Thursday morning.

Smith said the incident remains under investigation.
