Iowa Man Snared In Online Child Porn Sting Pleads Guilty Here

WACO (January 13, 2011)—Timothy Allen Gerholdt of Cedar Falls Iowa pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Waco to distribution of child pornography charges stemming from an online undercover sting in 2010.

Gerholdt was named in a four-count federal indictment stemming from the online undercover operation focused on Internet predators and child porn trafficking.

Prosecutors said the conversation became sexually explicit as Gerholdt chatted online in February 2010 with who he thought was a 13-year-old girl, but who actually was an undercover law enforcement officer in Texas.

During the chat, images of child porn were sent to the officer.

Investigators traced the user’s screen name to Gerholdt who they say distributed child porn from his computer in Iowa on Feb. 17, March 3, March 4, and March 25.

In August 2010, investigators searched his home in Cedar Falls and recovered child porn from his computer.

According to court documents, he admitted to possessing, receiving and distributing child pornography and that “he chatted on Yahoo messenger and would distribute child pornography through PhotoShare and e-mail.”

Thomas William Henry, meanwhile, pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Waco to abusive sexual contact in an incident involving a person younger than 12 at Fort Hood.

Both men are scheduled for sentencing in March.
