WACO (February 14, 2013)--A McLennan County jury sentenced a Bellmead man Thursday to 634 years in state prison and ordered a fine of $71,000 after finding him guilty Wednesday on seven counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child by contact.
Judge Matt Johnson, in 54th District Court, ordered Willie Eugene Pearson to serve two of the seven 99-year sentences for aggravated sexual assault concurrently and the other five consecutively and assessed a $10,000 fine on each count.
He also sentenced Pearson, who turns 60 in two days, to consecutive 20-year sentences and $10,000 fines on each of the two indecency counts.
Testimony showed the assaults happened more than 10 years ago and the victim was 8-years-old at the time.
Prosecutors said they were pleased with the sentence.
"We could not be happier with this jury's verdict; they made sure this pedophile would never be free again,” said Assistant District Attorney Hilary LaBorde.
“They handed him the maximum punishment allowed by law. I hope this brings some comfort and peace to the victim, who was so brave in coming forward and trusting the system to prosecute her abuser,” she said.
Pearson has been held in the McLennan County Jail since his arrest on July 1, 2011 on bonds totaling $1,250,000.
