KILLEEN (August 11, 2014) Killeen police were searching Monday for a male suspect who ran after the car he was driving crashed during a police chase.

Four others who were in the car, including a girl and three boys, one of whom is 17, were in custody facing charges of evading arrest in a motor vehicle and failure to identify, Killeen police spokeswoman Carroll Smith said.

The car chase started at around 9 a.m. Monday on Zephyr Road as an officer was attempting to stop a car on a traffic violation, Smith said

At the same time another officer at a separate location was taking a report on a stolen car, which turned out to be the same car involved in the chase,

The chase proceeded down Gowan Drive toward Peaks Drive where the speeding car wrecked and the five occupants ran from the crash.

The car crashed through a fence and came to rest in some bushes in the front yard of a house in the 3800 block of Peaks, Smith said.
