KILLEEN (September 11, 2012)—Students, staff and guests participated Tuesday as Killeen Independent School District hosted its 7th Annual Freedom Walk on Tuesday at the Killeen High School main gymnasium.
The gathering was intended to both honor those who lost their lives that day and to honor local First Responders and Fort Hood Soldiers.
Additionally, more than 200 wounded warriors and staff from the Fort Hood Warrior Transition Brigade (WTB) as well as over 100 1st CAV soldiers participated in the annual walk.
The Warrior Transition Brigade, which stood up in 2008, provides command and control, primary care, and case management for service members receiving treatment for wounds suffered while deployed in the war on terror.
The unit works to "promote their timely return to the force or transition to civilian life."
