BELL COUNTY (January 26, 2014) The Bell County Sheriff’s Department is warning of a scam in which some residents have been contacted and told to get cash cards to pay fines for failing to respond to a jury summons.
The department, which has received several reports of the scam, is advising residents who get such calls to contact authorities immediately.
“Our patrol deputies do not go to homes or make calls in regards to court business seeking money; nor would law enforcement in our county ever solicit someone to obtain cash cards to pay a fine or services,” the department said in its advisory about the scam.
