TEMPLE (September 16, 2013)—Temple businessman and benefactor Drayton McLane, Jr., has again earned a post on the annual Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans.
McLane, 77, ranks No. 296 on the list with an estimated worth of $1.9 billion.
Michael Dell, 48, the founder of the Round Rock-based computer company that bears his name is No. 25 with an estimated worth of $15.9 billion.
Alice Walton, 63, of Fort Worth, is the richest Texan on the list.
The Wal-Mart heiress is ranked No. 8 with an estimated worth of $33.5 billion.
Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates is America's richest man for another year, taking the top spot in the Forbes 400 list for the 20th-straight year with a net worth of $72 billion.
Investor Warren Buffett, the head of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., remains in second place with $58.5 billion, and Oracle Corp. co-founder Larry Ellison stays third with $41 billion.
Brothers Charles and David Koch, co-owners of Koch Industries Inc., remain tied for fourth with $36 billion each.
Forbes says America's super rich continued to increase their wealth over the past year.
It says the 400 people on the annual list posted a combined net worth of $2 trillion, up from $1.7 trillion a year ago, the highest combined value ever.
Forbes attributed the growth to strong stock and real estate markets.
