BELTON (December 11, 2013) Belton city workers contended with temperatures in the 20s and icy water as they worked through the night to repair a break in a six-inch waterline at Main Street and Avenue F.
The leak was discovered at around 8 p.m. Tuesday and repairs weren’t completed until just before 8 a.m. Wednesday, the city said.
In order to fix the leak, water pressure was reduced in the immediate area, causing minor service disruptions in neighborhoods near Avenue F.
The city is planning to replace the old cast iron pipe that runs under Main Street from Avenue C to Avenue J on the recommendation of the city’s Capital Improvements Plan Committee.
The project is estimated to cost $575,000.
