TEMPLE (January 2, 2014) Another Central Texas daycare has closed unexpectedly, leaving parents in the lurch at the start of the new year.
“Brighter Minds Educational Child Care at 3923 South General Bruce Dr. in Temple closed its doors effective on New Year’s Eve, according to a sign posted on the front door Thursday.
Parents to whom News 10 talked said they were upset and concerned about retrieving belongings and getting refunds.
The owners could not be reached for comment, but employees said there had been pay issues for several weeks.
The daycare was licensed to care for as many as 85 children from infants to school age, according to online records.
The center’s license was issued on Feb. 27, 2013, according to the records.
It was the second daycare closing in less than two months in Bell County.
In early November the abrupt closure of Milestones Educational Child Care in Belton left parents wondering about refunds and employees about their paychecks.
Terese Bardwell, the owner of the facility, which is licensed to care for as many as 156 children from infants to school age, sent last minute e-mail messages notifying parents and employees of the closing, but did not provide a reason.
