Killeen (August 17, 2014) Hundreds of Central Texans joined the fun and festivities during this year's Kid Fest safety fair held at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center on Sunday.
Metroplex Health System had been hosting the event for the more than 25 years.
"So this is a great way to get into the community, to be active about injury prevention, health and safety and let kids learn about it in a fun and interactive way," said Shelley Humphrey, Metroplex Health System spokesperson. "We have a lot of families come out and they can participate with their children, and it's a fun and interactive way to learn about health and safety."
Children who qualified were also given free immunizations to get them ready for the start of the school year.
“We have all types of vendors with resources including dental insurance,” she said. “Of course Metroplex has some information about injury prevention, we have the immunizations and health screenings, and we also have vendors for nutrition and exercise.”
