Local High School Coach Placed On Paid Leave

BRUCEVILLE-EDDY (January 29, 2014) Bruceville-Eddy High School boys’ basketball coach Cody Slaughter was on paid administrative leave Wednesday pending the outcome of an investigation by the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office into unspecified allegations, Bruceville-Eddy Superintendent Richard Kilgore confirmed.

Slaughter also teaches U.S. history, according to the district's online directory.

Kilgore said the investigation stemmed from information from students who came forward, but provided no further details.

McLennan County Chief Deputy Matt Cawthon Wednesday confirmed the investigation and said it involves “allegations that a school official provided alcohol to a minor,” but provided no further details.

Earlier Wednesday in a brief press release, Kilgore, said, “The Administration of BEISD cannot comment on personnel matters, however, you can rest assured that any accusations made of its employees will be thoroughly investigated by the district and turned over to authorities.”
