WACO (February 25, 2013)--A Waco man was held Monday in the McLennan County Jail charged with aggravated assault family violence and injury to a child in an attack that left a woman and her infant injured.
Bawi Hlei Kham, 22, was ordered held in lieu of bonds totaling $175,000, according to the jail log.
Kham was arrested after Waco officers were flagged down at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Speight Avenue by a woman who told them she had been beaten.
Officers learned the woman had been severely beaten about the head and neck, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Monday.
Swanton said the woman twice dropped the 2-month-old infant she woman was holding during the attack.
The beating grew out of an argument the 37-year-old woman had with her boyfriend, Swanton said.
The woman and the infant were taken by ambulance to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center.
Their names were not released and information about their condition wasn’t immediately available Monday.
