WACO (October 12, 2012)--A Waco man was arrested early Friday morning after two Department of Public Safety helicopter pilots reported that someone on the ground blinded them with a spotlight.
Gary Don Williams, 21, was charged with illuminating an aircraft with an intense light.
His bond was set at $2,000.
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said the DPS helicopter was flying over East Waco at around 12:20 a.m. Friday when it was spotlighted by a high intensity illumination source from the ground.
Swanton said both pilots were wearing night goggles and the intense light blinded them both for a short time.
After the pilots regained their sight they were able to pinpoint the source of the light and illuminated the scene from the air.
Officers on the ground went to the scene and arrested Williams who told police he was angry because the helicopter was flying over his house.
