COPPERAS COVE (October 11, 2012)--A Copperas Cove man arrested and charged after police found his 20-month-old son unsupervised and outside covered in fire ants was free on bond Thursday.

Danny Wayne Osborn, 23, was arrested on Sunday and charged with abandoning or endangering a child.

He posted an $8,000 bond and was released from custody.

According to an arrest affidavit, police found Osborn's son outside crying, bug-bitten and covered in ants.

A neighbor said she called 911 after she found the toddler wearing a dirty diaper crying near the home.

The neighbor also said the little boy was burning up and still had ants crawling on him.

Osborn told police he had been inside the home sleeping for hours and that the toddler's mother was not home.

Neighbors and paramedics said they were unable to wake Osborn up.

Police believe the child left the house through the back door, which was unlocked.
