WACO (October 12, 2012)--A Waco man was held Friday in the McLennan County Jail after his arrest in connection with a robbery overnight that netted only $3.

Angel Javier Chan-Gomez, 23, was booked into the jail after his arrest for aggravated robbery and possession of marijuana, but his bond had not been set Friday morning.

Chan-Gomez also was being held without bond on a federal immigration detainer.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said officers were sent at around 7:35 p.m. Thursday to an address in the 2300 block of Dutton Avenue where a 49-year-old man reported he had been robbed at knifepoint.

Swanton said the police report indicates the victim owed money to another man and when the man confronted the victim, who said he had no money, the assailant pulled a knife.

Swanton said the victim turned over $3 and a cellular telephone, after which the robber fled.

Police arrested Chan-Gomez a short time later at his residence in the 2100 block of Clay Street without incident.
