Local Man Killed In Drug Deal Gone Bad, Police Say

WACO (October 27, 2013) Police were looking for two suspects Sunday after Leslie David Lee, 44, of Purmela, was shot to death in a drug deal gone bad at a Waco apartment complex.

The shooting was reported at around 10:30 p.m.Saturday at the Lafayette Apartments at 2503 Ethel Avenue in Waco.

Officers found Lee dead.

He was shot several times, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Sunday.

Investigators determined that Lee and a woman went to the complex to complete a drug deal they had arranged when two men armed with handguns approached in what evidently was attempt to steal the drugs from the two, Swanton said.

Lee attempted to pull out his own handgun and was shot several times in the neck and face, Swanton said.

The woman, who was not identified, wasn’t injured, Swanton said.

An autopsy was ordered.

No one was in custody Sunday afternoon.
