BELLMEAD (August 9, 2014) A man for whom Bellmead police were searching after a woman reported that her husband attacked her, threatened to kill her and then set her mobile home on fire early Friday morning was in the McLennan County Jail Saturday in lieu of bonds totaling $1 million.

Shane Michael Springer, 47, was arrested Friday evening without incident.

He’s charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession, assault family violence-strangulation, unlawful restraint, attempted sexual assault and arson, according to online jail records.

Officers responded just before 1 a.m. Friday after the woman reported the attack, police Detective Michael Miller said.

Smoke and flames were coming from the woman’s mobile home when they arrived, he said.

Bellmead firefighters extinguished the flames, but the fire extensively damaged the mobile home, Miller said.

The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to a Waco hospital where she was treated and later released.
