Local Man, Twin Brother, Sister Sentenced In Marijuana Case

MEADVILLE, Pa. (December 19, 2012)—A Central Texas man and his twin brother have been sentenced to state prison on charges they headed an operation that shipped as much as 20 pounds of marijuana each month to northwestern Pennsylvania over the last two years.

Marcelino Rodriguez, of Eddy, will spend three to five years in prison and his brother, Miguel, of Corpus Christi, has been sentenced to four to eight years.

The brothers are 29.

Their sister, Laura Rodriguez, 30, of Chilton, was sentenced to six to 24 months in jail for conspiracy for her lesser role.

State prosecutors say Marcelino Rodriguez was arrested on unrelated drug charges in Crawford County, Pa., in August 2010, and continued to direct the operation using phone calls from the county prison.

Those calls were recorded by law enforcement officers and helped lead to the charges.
