LACY LAKEVIEW (November 9, 2012)—Lacy Lakeview police Officer Roy Wood, who was shot Thursday evening after responding to a report of a suicidal and possibly armed person at a house in the 100 block of Bobcat Drive just north of the Texas State Technical College campus, was out of the hospital Friday and a 21-year-old man was jailed, charged in the shooting.

Keith McAdams was ordered held Friday in the McLennan County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond, charged with aggravated assault against a public servant.

A second person who was taken into custody after the shooting was later released.

Wood was one of four officers who were dispatched at around 5:10 p.m. Thursday to the home at 104 Bobcat Dr.

As the officers attempted to make contact with the residents, someone fired from inside the house, authorities said Friday.

As the officers scrambled to take cover, Wood was struck in the back of the upper arm and the bullet exited through his shoulder, authorities said.

He was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where he was treated and then later released.

Dozens of officers from area agencies responded to the scene and surrounded the house where the officer was shot.

At one point Thursday evening, as many as 45 officers were at the scene of the shooting.

Some nearby homes were evacuated, officials said.

McAdams and the second person in the house were arrested about 30 minutes after the shots were fired, authorities said Friday.
