KILLEEN (April 10, 2014) The Kmart store in Killeen was evacuated early Thursday evening after a caller who was demanding ransom told an employee there was a bomb and two or three people with guns already inside the store to enforce the demand.

The caller made other demands as well, but police did not say what they were.

Officers responded just after 5 p.m. and spent about an hour sweeping the store at 1101 South Fort Hood St. with a K9 unit, but found no evidence of either a bomb or people with guns.

The store was cleared just after 6 p.m. Thursday.

Police are investigating.

The same store, along with some adjoining businesses, was evacuated on Dec. 2, 2013 because of a bomb threat.

Police cleared the building about an hour later.

No suspicious devices were found.
