TYLER (July 25, 2014) West Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford, who helped guide the community and the school district through some dark days after the April 2013 fertilizer plant explosion, is the lone finalist for the same position in the Tyler Independent School District.
According to a press release from Tyler ISD, the announcement was made at Thursday night's school board meeting.
The district is now required to wait 21 days before officially hiring Crawford as superintendent.
“I am honored to be named the lone finalist for the superintendent position at Tyler ISD,” Crawford said.
Crawford has served as superintendent in West for six years.
He has overseen the recovery of the district’s schools since the deadly April 17, 2013, fertilizer plant explosion that destroyed three campuses.
