By: Paul J. Gately Email

BELLMEAD (September 13, 2012)-A La Vega High School student who was struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning as she walked to school was treated at a local hospital and then released.

Bellmead police Detective Michael Miller said the 15-year-old girl suffered minor injuries when she was struck just before 7 a.m. Wednesday at Loop 340 and Bellmead Drive in Bellmead.

Miller said witnesses told officers the girl was struck after she ran into traffic on Bellmead Drive.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene, Miller said, because he did not have a valid driver's license and did not have required proof of insurance.
