WACO (October 4, 2012)--Shelly Lanae Davis, 42, of Waco, has been indicted on additional counts of fraud stemming from repeated attempts to present fraudulent prescriptions to obtain prescription painkillers.

The McLennan County Grand Jury handed up two indictments Wednesday charging Davis with a total of 11 counts of fraud.

She was indicted on four counts of fraud in August.

Waco police arrested Davis on July 19 on warrants charging fraud stemming from attempts to present fraudulent prescriptions to obtain prescription painkillers, police said.

Davis also was named in a warrant issued to Robinson police for similar attempts to buy drugs using fraudulent prescriptions.

At the time of her arrest in July, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said drug enforcement investigators found Davis was calling pharmacies, representing herself as a doctor's office employee, and ordering the powerful painkiller hydrocodone.

Most of the incidents involved Walmart pharmacies, Swanton said.

On June 27, employees of the Hewitt Walmart recognized Davis when she went there to pick up a prescription, police said.

At the time Davis was named in a Robinson police warrant charging a similar type of incident.

Waco officers arrived and took her into custody on the Robinson warrant and made a case on her for attempting to obtain the drugs on that date, police said.

As drug enforcement officers began looking into the case they were able to identify eleven incidents in which Davis obtained the drugs illegally.

Warrants were obtained and the Waco Police Street Crimes Unit arrested Davis without incident.

Davis was also arrested on May 24 on the same charges, stemming from at least four incidents in which fraudulent prescription orders were presented to the pharmacy at the Target store on Bosque Boulevard.

The first incident was reported on March 23 and the subsequent incidents occurred on April 4, 17 and 25.

A tip from a Target pharmacy employee led to Davis' arrest.
