WACO (January 28, 2014) A Waco woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to a manslaughter charge stemming from an auto-pedestrian accident in 2012 that left her mother dead.
State District Judge Ralph Strother accepted the guilty plea from Gail Lehrmann Smith, 53, and ordered the county probation office to complete a pre-sentence investigation formal sentencing.
Smith was charged in connection with the auto-pedestrian accident on June 29, 2012, that left her mother, Marguerite Lehrmann, 76, dead.
At the time of the accident Waco police said Lehrmann was struck by a small SUV in the parking lot of the Crisis Care Center, at 1200 Clifton Street, where the woman had taken her daughter for treatment of a mental health issue.
The daughter left the scene in the Toyota RAV4 but after a short time she returned and police arrested her.
Lehrmann suffered a severe head injury when she was struck and fell to the pavement.
She was taken by ambulance from the scene to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where she died a short time later.
