By: Paul J. Gately Email

MERIDIAN (June 27, 2012)--A Bosque County Jail inmate who escaped Wednesday morning was back in custody just after 1:30 p.m. after he turned himself in.

Kenneth Camp, 44, a jail trusty, walked away from the kitchen detail at the jail in Meridian at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, said D.L. Wilson, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety.

Wilson said Camp turned himself in to deputies just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies, aided by Texas Rangers, DPS ground and air units and bloodhounds from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Gatesville spent the morning searching the area around Meridian after Camp walked off.

He was indicted on June 15 as an habitual felony offender for evading arrest or detention with vehicle.
