GATESVILLE (July 21, 2011)-A Gatesville man was indicted this week for indecency with a child and he and his wife were both indicted for witness tampering in connection with an alleged incident to silence the victim and members of her family.
David John Hinojosa was arrested in April on the indecency with a child charge and was later freed after posting $25,000 bond.
Hinojosa and his wife Ermelinda Ochoa-Hinojosa both were arrested in June on warrants that charged two counts each of witness tampering.
The two were released after posting bonds totaling $20,000 each, set by Coryell County Justice of the Peace Coy Latham.
The indecency with a child charge stems from an incident in mid April in which sexual advances were made toward a 12-year-old Gatesville girl at Hinojosa’s home, Coryell County Deputy Sheriff Armando Paniagua said.
Paniagua said the victim and members of her family were later threatened in an effort to prevent them from testifying against Hinojosa.
