WACO (February 22, 2011)—McLennan County sheriff’s officials Wednesday released the names of five people who were arrested Tuesday with help from the county’s Aviation Unit.

A McLennan County deputy sheriff arrested one man Tuesday after an Aviation Unit helicopter dropped him off to interrupt a theft that was in progress on Oak Grove Loop near Wortham Bend Road.

Patrol units and the helicopter responded to the report of the theft, and because the helicopter arrived first, the pilot set down and dropped off the deputy who made the arrest, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities identified the man Wednesday as Chad Ray Weber, 23.

A second man fled, but deputies later arrested Joe Anderson, 31, in the Wortham Bend area in connection with the theft.

The two were wanted in the theft of farm equipment, which was sold for scrap metal, the sheriff’s office said.

The aviation unit and patrol units were involved later Tuesday in the arrest of three people after a burglary of a home on Logue Lane off Steinbeck Bend Road, the sheriff’s office said.

They were identified Wednesday as Eugene Corky Price, 34, Tammy Lynn Hammonds, 45, and Kenneth Steven Griffith, 57.
