CORSICANA (January 27, 2012)—Timothy Glenn White, 54, of Kerens, was in the Navarro County Jail Friday charged with a list of offenses after a Corsicana police officer was dragged 300 feet by a driver who was attempting to escape during a drug investigation.
Officer Kenneth Dunagan and other drug enforcement team members from the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office and the Corsicana Police Department were investigating drug activity Wednesday afternoon in Kerens when the incident happened, authorities said.
Dunagan approached a 1992 Dodge that was stopped on the street and as he spoke with the driver he noticed the vehicle was still in drive, authorities said Friday.
When he reached in the window to shift the vehicle into park, the driver suddenly attempted to speed off, dragging Dunagan for about 300 feet before the Dodge struck a stop sign.
Paramedics treated Dunagan at the scene, but a second officer, Garrett Harrell, required treatment for injuries he received while arresting the driver, authorities said.
Harrell was later released.
Officers searched the vehicle and recovered marijuana and 100 small bags of the type used to package and sell the drug, authorities said.
White was charged with aggravated assault, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.
His bonds total $304,000.
Officers from the Kerens Police Department and Navarro County Constable David Foreman also assisted in the arrest.
