COPPERAS COVE (January 9, 2012)—In a letter e-mailed to faculty and staff, Copperas Cove School Superintendent Dr. Rose Cameron announced Monday she plans to retire at the end of the school year.
“It is with a heavy heart and mixed emotions, that I announce to you my retirement from Copperas Cove ISD at the end of this semester,” Cameron wrote.
“After many long hours and discussions, I have reached my final decision with great certainty. This is the right time for both me and my family to move forward and enjoy the opportunity to spend additional time with family members,” she wrote.
“It is a sad day for Copperas Cove ISD,” said Joan Manning, President of the Copperas Cove ISD Board of Trustees.
“Dr. Cameron has been the most visible, student-oriented superintendent we’ve ever had here in Copperas Cove. She will be sorely missed by all.”
Cameron has served as superintendent since June 2006.
Before that, she was the district’s deputy superintendent for three years.
During her tenure, the district earned a Texas Education Agency Recognized rating for the 2007-2008 and 2010-2011 school years.
The Copperas School Board didn’t immediately indicate plans regarding Cameron’s replacement.
