TEMPLE (February 9, 2012)—Stephanie Williams, 45, of Temple, was in the Bell County Jail Thursday facing robbery and resisting arrest charges after what police said was an attempt to steal a taxi from a local cab driver.

The incident happened at around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of SW HK Dodgen Loop.

Officers who responded to a report of a disturbance found the driver standing outside of his cab and a woman sitting behind the wheel.

The driver told officers the woman was riding in the cab when she
Suddenly struck him in the head, forced her way into the driver’s seat and attempted to steal the vehicle.

The driver said he was able to grab the keys and get out of the cab.

When officers tried to arrest the woman, she resisted, but was eventually taken into custody.

The cab driver didn’t require medical treatment, police said.
