Main Break Leaves Area Homes, Businesses Without Water

By: Brittany Semadeni Email

LORENA (November 28, 2012)—A construction crew hit a steel-encased 12-inch water main under Interstate 35 Wednesday, leaving schools daycares, homes and businesses west of the highway in Lorena without water.

Several hundred people were affected, Lorena’s city manager said.

The crew struck the line at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday near exit 322.

Water service was restored Wednesday night, but a boil order issued early Wednesday evening remains in effect for water customers who live west of Interstate 35.

Water intended for consumption, cooking or ice making should be boiled vigorously before use.
