WEST (October 11, 2013)--A major wreck Friday night involving a tour bus, three 18-wheelers and a passenger vehicle had traffic at a stand still on northbound Interstate 35 near West.
Department of Public Safety Trooper DL Wilson said the crash resulted in no injuries.
The West Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to cut the roof off the tour bus to make rescuing the passengers inside easier.
Wilson said the initial crash happened at about 8:15 p.m. when a truck tractor, semi-trailer ran into the rear of the bus.
Close behind a passenger vehicle struck the back of a second 18-wheeler and a third 18-wheeler ran into the rear of the passenger vehicle.
The roadway was blocked at mile marker 354 while rescuers attended to the injured and crews began removing debris from the roadway.
It was not known how many passengers were on the bus nor was it known what the bus's destination was.
West ISD provided a school bus to move the bus passengers from the scene.
The interstate was closed for several hours while the scene was cleared.
