WACO (December 19, 2012)--Us Carnell Petetan was re-indicted for capital murder Wednesday in the Sept. 23 death of his wife, Kimberly Petetan, 41, who was shot repeatedly during what police say was a heated argument at the Landing Apartments, in the 2500 block of East Lake Shore Drive in Waco.

Petetan was arrested the day after the deadly shooting when he was stopped on a traffic violation in Bryan and officers discovered he was named in a arrest warrant.

Police also recovered Kimberley Petetan's 9-year-old daughter, who police say was abducted from the scene of the shooting the day before.

She wasn’t harmed.

The Petetans were married, but weren't living together at the time of the shooting, police said.

Petetan was originally indicted in November.

McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna confirmed last month he plans to seek the death penalty in the case.

Petetan is in the McLennan County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond and without bond on a parole violation, jail records show.

Other Indictments

John Dewayne Richards was indicted on one count of tampering with a witness and one count of retaliation in connection with incidents during the capital murder trial of his nephew, Rickey Donnell Cummings, who was sentenced to death for his role in a March 2011 shooting outside of a local apartment complex that left two dead and two injured.

Richards was arrested on Oct. 25 after State District Judge Ralph Strother signed a warrant for him charging him with retaliation against a trial witness.

The arrest came after a man threatened a witness in Cummings' capital murder trial after the third day of testimony.

On the next day when the witness prepared to leave her house to go to the courthouse, she found her car's tires slashed.

Officers began searching for Richards after the arrest warrant was issued and found him in the parking lot of the H-E-B store in Bellmead.

Tyrece Edward Richards, Cummings brother, was indicted on one count of retaliation (enhanced) stemming from an incident in May in which a potential witness was threatened at gunpoint at a north Waco apartment complex.

Grand jurors also indicted Waco teenager Brandon Rashon Reliford Wednesday on three counts of indecency with a child by exposure.

The indictments stem from an incident first reported in March.

A 10-year-old girl told detectives that a man stood in front of a window of his North Waco home on March 27 and exposed himself to her.

Swanton said there were other children involved, as well.

Cozy Bronshae Washington was indicted on four counts of kidnapping and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in an incident in September in which his common-law wife and her three children were kidnapped and held.

Gerald Wayne Guthrie was indicted Wednesday for aggravated assault against a public servant (habitual) and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon (habitual).

He was arrested in October after a traffic stop near the intersection of New Road and Waco Drive.

As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver jumped out, tried to dispose of a plastic bag containing methamphetamine, and then ran into traffic on New Road.

The officer was able to subdue the man, but as he was being escorted back to the patrol car he pulled a knife from his pocket and threatened the officer.

The officer used his Taser, which caused the man to fall to the ground, but then the man got up and tried to run again, police said.

As the officer struggled with him a second time, a Paladin Security officer stopped to help, and several passersby called 911 to report the officer was in trouble, police said.

The officer, whose name was not released, suffered minor injuries, police said Monday.

After the arrest, police determined that that Guthrie was wanted on warrants charging burglary and theft as well as for a parole violation.

Elizabeth Scott Norman was indicted on one count of injury to an elderly individual in connection with an incident in November in which her 76-year-old mother was struck several times in the face and neck.
