WACO (July 30, 2014) A Waco man was held Wednesday in the McLennan County Jail after police arrested him in an incident in which a gun was fired outside of a house in a local neighborhood.
Waco police were sent at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to a residence in the 600 block of North 32nd Street after a caller reported shots had been fired outside a residence.
As officers made their way to the address, they noticed a suspicious car that matched the description of one given by the victims and after a short pursuit, stopped the driver and took him into custody in the 900 block of North 30th Street, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
Police arrested Guadalupe Longoria, Jr., and took him to the McLennan County Jail where he was listed on the jail roster Wednesday facing charges of aggravated assault, evading arrest in a vehicle, possession of marijuana and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
Longoria, 28, had not been formally arraigned and had not had bonds set Wednesday morning.
Swanton said officers found an assault rifle and two handguns in the car.
Police secured the area as eight police cars and a sheriff’s car blocked off North 32nd Street for more than an hour and crime scene tape ringed the area near where police say the shots were fired.
Swanton said officers reported there were three victims, but no one was hit by the gunfire.
Swanton said a dispute between the suspect and one of the victims had been brewing for several days.
