Man Arrested In Texas In Marijuana Plantation Case

ESTANCIA, N.M. (January 5, 2013)--A man wanted in the case of a huge marijuana plantation that hunters stumbled upon in Manzano Mountains of New Mexico was in custody Saturday in Texas.

The Torrance County, N.M., Sheriff's Department said U.S. marshals arrested Joseph Hazle in Texas.

He will soon be transferred back to New Mexico to face charges for the illegal plants on his property.

In September, two hunters told deputies that they stumbled on the plantation and that four men started shooting at them.

Torrance County Sheriff Heath White says an elaborate set-up of generators and pumps powered the plantation.

Authorities said Hazle is one of four men wanted in the case that may have Mexican drug cartel connections.
