Man Carrying Handgun, Knife, Arrested On Local Campus

WACO (May 9, 2013)--A Waco man was in the McLennan County Jail Thursday after he was arrested on a local college campus with a stolen weapon in his possession.

Jeremiah Bradley Weaver, 36, was ordered held on bonds totaling $7,000, charged with possession of a weapon in a place where prohibited and possession of s stolen firearm, jail records show.

Jan Osborne, media spokeswoman for Texas State Technical College, said TSTC police stopped a man at around 3 a.m. Wednesday who was walking along the 100 block of Campus Drive and was acting suspiciously.

She said officers discovered the man had a knife and an ammunition magazine in his possession and when they asked if he had a handgun he said yes.

After TSTC police obtained permission to search the man's backpack, they discovered a handgun inside that after a check proved to be stolen.

Weaver is not registered as a student at TSTC, Osborne said.
