HOUSTON (February 25, 2014) An-ex-neighbor has been charged in the stabbing death of a 72-year-old woman whose body was found in December in her burned Houston-area home.
Ethen Drake, 21, was charged with capital murder in the death of Caroline Stagner.
Investigators believe he stole cash and drugs from Stagner and then set her house on fire.
Firefighters found Stagner's body on Dec. 13.
Authorities say the victim's discarded pill bottles labeled with her name were discovered about three blocks from her home and near where Drake’s parents still live.
An affidavit released Tuesday says Drake was arrested earlier in Gladewater where he faces similar charges of taking pills and money from a home and setting it on fire.
