KILLEEN (July1, 2014) Audley Ricardo Burrell, 41, of Killeen, was in the Bell County Jail Tuesday charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury in connection with a what authorities say was a drunken shooting at a Killeen apartment that left an 11-year-old girl injured.

Burrell was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bond.

An affidavit for the arrest warrant says police believe Burrell drank heavily for several hours last Thursday night until he passed out.

Burrell told police when he came to, he grabbed his gun, but because of his condition, dropped it and the weapon discharged, the affidavit said.

The girl’s mother, who was in another room in the apartment at the time, told police she heard a loud popping noise and soon after her daughter came to her and told her that her arm hurt, the affidavit said.

The affidavit says the mother found two small holes in her daughter’s arm and a hole in the ceiling.

A medical report attached to the affidavit said the child suffered a torn tendon that would require surgery to repair.
