TEMPLE (February 1, 2013)—Police Friday identified a man who was struck and killed Thursday night after walking directly into the path of an oncoming truck as Douglas Robert Will, 55, of Temple.

Will was thrown about 70 feet when the northbound pickup truck struck him as he crossed South 31st Street in the 4800 block near a Dollar General Store.

The truck’s driver stopped, called 911 and administered first aid until paramedics arrived, but efforts to revive Will were unsuccessful.

Bell County Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield pronounced Will dead at the scene.

The truck’s driver, who was not identified, was taken to Scott & White Hospital for evaluation.

He has not been charged, police said.
