AUSTIN (September 1, 2014) A man died after falling off a cliff Sunday on Austin’s Mount Bonnell.
A witness said the man was holding onto a branch Sunday afternoon when he slipped and fell, Austin-Travis County EMS spokesman Mike Benavides said.
First responders had to use ropes to descend the cliff to reach the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Benavides said.
Mount Bonnell, at 775 feet above sea level, is alongside the Lake Austin portion of the Colorado River and provides a vista of the city and surrounding hills.
